Performance Claim
The Cerma with STM-3 technology provides 2.1% fuel savings. This claim is based on the test conducted according to the SAE J1321 Joint TMC/SAE Fuel Consumption Test Procedure - Type II (1986), which resulted in 2.1% fuel savings over the baseline for the test vehicle, a Class 8 engine truck, using the Cerma with STM-3 technology according to the supplier's instructions (engine oil 340 grams (12 oz), power steering system 28 grams (1 oz), differential 170 grams (6 oz), front spindle 28 grams (1 oz) per wheel).
Performance Conditions
The fuel consumption tests were performed on a high-speed test track (BMOO) at the Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Test Centre in Blainville, Quebec. All testing was conducted by FPInnovations Feric Division (FPInnovations) of Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
Test Vehicle Details
- Vehicle Type: Class 8 engine truck
- Test Track: High-speed test track at 8.0 km (5 miles)
- Track Height: 6.1 km curves, 11 km (almost 100 km long)
- Test Procedure: SAE J1321 Type II (1986)
Technology Application
CERMA with STM-3 Technology is a fuel engine additive which, when applied to Class 8 Truck Engines, has the potential to increase fuel efficiency of the vehicle subjected to this technology treatment.
Application Points
- Engine oil: 340 grams (12 oz)
- Power steering system: 28 grams (1 oz)
- Differential: 170 grams (6 oz)
- Front spindle: 28 grams (1 oz) per wheel
Technology Description
Cerma nano-molecules will bind with surface chains within the metal internal surfaces. Once fully cured to yield a glass smooth metal surface applying as thin film on the metal substrate. This surface will have virtually zero friction and offer characteristics that ensure uniformity for loads of boundary friction between the surfaces. Cerma will molecularly restructure sub-surfaces that characterize the rough surfaces.
What ETV Verification Means
- Independent testing – Not conducted by Cerma
- Government program – Canadian federal verification
- Verified claims – Performance statements confirmed
- Third-party credibility – Objective assessment
- Standardized testing – SAE J1321 protocol followed
Why This Matters
The Canadian ETV Program verification provides customers with confidence that Cerma's fuel savings claims have been independently tested and verified by a credible third party using standardized testing procedures.
