Fuel Efficiency Test Protocol | Cerma STM-3 Diesel Testing
Diesel Fuel Efficiency Test Protocol
This fuel efficiency testing protocol was developed by Canadian Hydrogen Energy Company Ltd. to measure the impact of Cerma STM-3 technology on diesel fuel consumption under controlled conditions.
Test Protocol Overview
The protocol establishes a rigorous methodology for comparing fuel efficiency before and after STM-3 treatment:
Test Objectives
- Establish a Trip Data "Base Line" under controlled conditions
- Perform Trip Collection Sessions with STM-3 treatment applied
- Compare results using selective parameters for accurate analysis
Test Equipment & Conditions
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Test Vehicle | CAT 430 (Cab or Cab and Trailer configurations) |
| Test Route | 100-mile start-return route |
| Data Collection Date | June 3, 2005 |
| Treatment | HFI Unit with STM-3 technology |
Testing Methodology
The protocol includes 24 detailed steps to ensure accurate, repeatable results:
Pre-Trip Preparation
- Ensure vehicle is properly prepared (Cab only or Cab and Trailer)
- Check and record tire pressure
- Fill fuel tank to maximum and record fuel data
- Weigh vehicle and driver at certified scale
- Record atmospheric temperature and wind data
Data Collection Process
- Record odometer reading at start
- Maintain constant speed throughout test
- Complete 100-mile route (50 miles out, 50 miles return)
- Record all data points at completion
- Transfer data to Analysis Spreadsheet
Comparative Testing
- Base Line test performed with HFI Unit "OFF"
- Treatment test performed with HFI Unit "ON" (STM-3 added)
- Minimum 1-hour cool down between tests
- All variables matched between tests (temperature, wind, driver, weight, tire pressure)
Why This Protocol Matters
This scientific approach eliminates variables that could affect results, ensuring that any fuel efficiency improvement can be attributed directly to Cerma STM-3 technology. The controlled conditions and detailed documentation provide credible, verifiable data.
