Before takedown: verify the pistol is unloaded. Remove the magazine, lock the slide back, and visually and physically confirm the chamber is empty. Only then follow your manual's takedown procedure. The four steps for a striker pistol
- Make it safe and field-strip. Confirm the pistol is unloaded (above), then field-strip per your manual — slide off the frame, then remove the recoil spring assembly and barrel.
