The Problem: Gas Doesn't Keep, and Ethanol Made It Worse
Gasoline is a refined cocktail of light hydrocarbons, and from the day it's pumped it starts changing. The volatile components evaporate; the rest oxidizes into gums and varnish that coat carb jets and injector tips. Untreated pump gas begins degrading meaningfully within a few months.
Then there's ethanol. E10 and E15 — nearly everything sold today — are hygroscopic: the ethanol fraction pulls moisture out of the air continuously. In a vehicle driven daily, that water burns off in small doses. In a tank that sits — or even in a daily driver over enough fill-ups — moisture accumulates, corrodes fuel components, feeds microbial growth in diesel, and in the worst case phase-separates: the water-ethanol mix drops to the bottom of the tank, exactly where the fuel pickup lives.

The Seasonal Playbook (Boats, Mowers, Generators, Toys)
- In season: dose Cerma fuel treatment at 1 oz per 40 gallons — first dose on a half-empty tank, fill up, repeat next fill, then at fill-ups or monthly. Water leaves through combustion; injectors stay clean; the pump gets ceramic lubricity.
- Last run of the season: add your storage stabilizer per its label, run the engine long enough to pull stabilized fuel through the whole system, top the tank to minimize air space (less air = less moisture to absorb).
- Storage: nothing to do — that's the point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a stabilizer and Cerma at the same time?
They're built for different moments, so you rarely need to — treatment while running, stabilizer for the storage tank. If a stabilized tank is being driven down in spring, adding Cerma is fine; there's no chemical conflict.
Do I need a stabilizer for my daily driver?
Generally no — fuel that turns over every few weeks doesn't sit long enough to degrade meaningfully. Your daily driver's real fuel-side issues are deposits and ethanol moisture, which are treatment jobs, not stabilizer jobs.
Why doesn't Cerma just add a stabilizer claim?
