Cerma EVO Ceramic Synthetic 0W-0 Motor Oil — STM-3 Nano Silicon Carbide Technology | Protects Like a 40W, Runs Like a 0W

The evolution of motor oil has arrived. Cerma EVO Ceramic Synthetic 0W-0 Motor Oil is an ultra-low viscosity ceramic oil that delivers maximum fuel economy while providing 40-weight protection — a combination previously thought impossible. Designed exclusively for gasoline engines 2008 and newer that have been pre-treated with Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment, EVO reacts with the existing ceramic bond in your engine to unlock a new level of performance. It flows freely like a 0W for instant cold-start protection and maximum MPG, yet the SiC ceramic matrix provides protection equivalent to a 40-weight oil at operating temperature. Available in quart, gallon, case, pail, and drum sizes.

⚠️ REQUIRED: Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment Must Be Applied First

Cerma EVO 0W-0 is designed to work only after your engine has been treated with Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment. The engine treatment creates the permanent SiC ceramic bond that EVO relies on for its 40-weight protection properties. Do not use EVO without first completing the Cerma Engine Treatment protocol. If your engine has not been treated, start with a Cerma Value Package that includes the engine treatment.

🔬 How Cerma EVO Achieves 40W Protection at 0W Viscosity

In a conventional engine, the oil itself must provide all of the protection between metal surfaces. Thicker oil = more protection, but also more friction and worse fuel economy. Cerma EVO changes the equation. When your engine is pre-treated with Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment, a permanent Nano Silicon Carbide (SiC) ceramic matrix is bonded within the metal sub-surfaces — a diamond-hard layer (Mohs 9.5, melting point 2,730°C) that provides protection independent of oil viscosity. EVO then flows through this pre-protected engine at ultra-low 0W-0 viscosity, minimizing friction and maximizing fuel economy, while the SiC ceramic bond provides protection equivalent to a 40-weight oil. The result: maximum MPG without sacrificing engine protection.

📋 The Cerma EVO Protocol — 3 Simple Steps

1 Add Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment
Add the appropriate dose of Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment to your current oil. This creates the permanent SiC ceramic bond in your engine. (Buy Engine Treatment →)
2 Drive 1,500+ Miles
Drive at least 1,500 miles (3,000 miles for trucks) to allow the STM-3 treatment to fully bond the SiC ceramic matrix to your engine's metal surfaces. Then perform an oil change.
3 Switch to Cerma EVO 0W-0
At your next oil change, drain the old oil and fill with Cerma EVO 0W-0 Motor Oil. Change at your manufacturer's recommended interval or 7,500 miles, whichever comes first. Enjoy maximum fuel economy and ceramic-level protection.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need Cerma Engine Treatment before using EVO?
Cerma EVO 0W-0 is an ultra-low viscosity oil — by itself, it would not provide sufficient protection for engine metal surfaces. EVO is designed to work in partnership with the permanent SiC ceramic bond created by Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment. The engine treatment creates a diamond-hard Nano Silicon Carbide matrix within the metal sub-surfaces, and EVO reacts with this ceramic bond to provide 40-weight protection at 0-weight viscosity. Without the engine treatment, the ceramic bond doesn't exist and EVO cannot provide adequate protection.
How does EVO provide 40-weight protection at 0W-0 viscosity?
In a Cerma-treated engine, the metal surfaces already have a permanent SiC ceramic bond (Mohs 9.5, nearly diamond-hard). This ceramic layer provides the primary protection — independent of oil viscosity. EVO flows through the engine at ultra-low viscosity for minimum friction and maximum fuel economy, while the ceramic bond handles the heavy-duty protection work. The oil also continuously maintains and enhances the SiC matrix through its Run Clean Technology.
How much fuel economy improvement can I expect?
Results vary by vehicle, driving conditions, and engine condition, but Cerma EVO's ultra-low 0W-0 viscosity dramatically reduces internal engine friction compared to conventional 5W-20 or 5W-30 oils. The combination of reduced friction, lower operating temperatures, and the SiC ceramic bond typically provides noticeable improvements in MPG, especially in city driving where engines frequently start and stop.
Why can't I use EVO in performance or racing applications?
EVO is optimized for daily driving and fuel economy in modern engines at normal operating loads. High-performance and racing applications generate extreme heat, RPMs, and loads that require the additional oil film strength of heavier-weight oils. For performance use, we recommend Cermax Ceramic Synthetic Motor Oils in 5W-40, 10W-40, or 20W-50 viscosities, which provide both the SiC ceramic bond and the thick oil film needed for extreme conditions.
Why is the oil change interval 7,500 miles instead of 15,000 or 30,000?
EVO's ultra-low viscosity means the oil itself has less inherent staying power than heavier-weight Cerma or Cermax oils. The 7,500-mile interval (or manufacturer's recommended interval, whichever comes first) ensures the oil maintains optimal cleaning and lubricating properties. If you prefer longer drain intervals, consider Cerma (15,000-mile) or Cermax (30,000-mile) oils, which offer extended drain performance with slightly less fuel economy benefit.
Why only 2008 and newer engines?
Modern engines (2008+) are manufactured with tighter tolerances, precision machined surfaces, and advanced materials that are compatible with ultra-low viscosity oils. Older engines may have wider clearances and wear patterns that require the additional oil film thickness of conventional viscosity grades. For pre-2008 vehicles, we recommend Cerma or Cermax oils in your manufacturer's recommended viscosity.
What if I haven't treated my engine yet?
Start with the Cerma STM-3 Engine Treatment — a one-time, permanent treatment. Add it to your current oil, drive at least 1,500 miles (3,000 for trucks), then switch to EVO at your next oil change. Or explore our Value Packages that bundle the engine treatment with oil for savings.
What does "self-cleaning" oil mean?
Cerma EVO's SiC Run Clean Technology prevents sludge, carbon deposits, and contaminants from adhering to metal surfaces. The SiC technology attracts carbon and lacquer into filterable masses, creating a full self-cleaning lubrication system. Combined with the permanent ceramic bond from the engine treatment, your engine stays cleaner than with any conventional oil.
